THE PULL OF THE "COWBOY MENTALITY" - EUROPEANS LOVING THEIR AMERICAN LIFE

Several immigrants, including those from Germany who have chosen the USA as their new home, have shared with "CNN" their reasons for not wanting to return to their home countries.

Positive Rating of American Mentality

Florian Herrmann from Munich cited the American "Can Do" attitude and the "Cowboy Mentality" as decisive factors in his decision to remain in the USA. Herrmann appreciates the support he receives in his village community in Wyoming and plans to apply for American citizenship.

Gabriele Sappok, a German businesswoman in New York, also values Americans. She recognizes a significant cultural difference between Europe and the USA, with a particular appreciation for American optimism. Despite acknowledging the benefits she experiences in the USA, she admits feeling a sense of guilt because she benefited from perks like a free university education in Germany without repaying it.

A New Sense of Home

Laurence Noguier from France, who runs a restaurant in Chicago, emphasized her appreciation for American corporate culture and feels she receives more support for her work in the USA than in France. Clodagh Lawless from Ireland expressed her love for the diversity of the USA and feels that she has more opportunities in the USA than in Ireland.

All respondents indicated that despite their love for their home countries, they feel a stronger sense of belonging in the USA. They appreciate the opportunities that the USA offers them and the different lifestyles they can lead there. For European immigrants, the often-declared-dead "American Dream" is still alive.
