100 Hours in The Philippines 🇵🇭 Epic FILIPINO STREET FOOD in Cebu, Bacolod & More!
The Philippines, an archipelago of over 7000 islands known for its beautiful beaches, friendly locals and in my opinon Asia's most underrated food! The food here is full of flavour, fresh, smokey, sweet, exotic… There is so much more to Filipino cuisine than just adobo. Welcome to Chopstick Travel, I'm Luke Martin. This is a film I made with over 100 hours of filming across some of The Philippines most famous food destinations from the chaotic capital of Manila, to the pristine jungles of Palawan, to the laid-back vibe of Cebu and the food heaven which is the city Bacolod. Everyone knows the best way to dive deep into any countries culture or cuisine is with the help of locals. We’re kicking things off in the biggest city in the Central Visayas, Cebu. With the help of my local Cebuano friend Paolo we’re going to uncover the true taste of Cebu ______________________ I'm Luke Martin, food lover and world traveller! Local Lens: A brothers’ guide to Scotland with Colin and Ewan McGregor
Hollywood actor, UNICEF ambassador and director, Ewan McGregor and his former pilot brother, Colin reconnect in Scotland against the backdrop of the Cairngorms’ lush mountains, shimmering lochs, and the majestic trees of the Hermitage forest. First stop along the epic road trip is the Newtonmore Grill Truckstop. Locally known as “the best kept secret in the Highlands,” the no-fuss, no-frills café is a scenic spot to fill up on haggis lasagne, with a strong cup of tea. An excellent meal before an exciting, winding adventure. For a gentle hike, the brothers explore The Hermitage, a forest woodland in Perthshire, with staggeringly tall trees, a medieval history, and Ossian’s Hall folly overlooking the Black Linn waterfall. As all explorers know, you should always pack a snack. In preparation for a bigger hike in the Cairngorms mountain range, Colin and Ewan stop off at the Aran Bakery in Dunkeld, a bright and airy foodie magnet on the charming Atholl Street, opposite The Scottish Deli, a great place to eat before hiking in the Highlands. They fill their bags with a perfect adventurer’s lunch: a sausage roll and two sandwiches, one venison, one smoked trout. Now that the packed lunch is sorted, the second hike can begin. As Ewan says, “Scotland has the most beautiful scenery. There’s something about the air, color, and remoteness of it all.” Nowhere can this be more felt than the Cairngorms. Snowy in winter, purple with heather in summer, the dramatic peaks of the U.K.’s largest National Park draw outdoorsy types and are often named in “best places to visit” lists. The brothers then make a detour to Taymouth Marina, the lochside “wild wellness” retreat, with family friendly water sports, Loch Ness Monster pedalo boats for kids, a giant trampoline, and the resort’s biggest draw: its HotBox Spa. The brothers brave the “wellness plunge” (a slide into the freezing loch), warming up afterwards in Scotland’s largest hot tub. As the evening draws in, it’s time to rest and toast marshmallows at The Dell of Abernathy. Set deep in the forest, this collection of six stone cottages has been decked out with impeccable taste— an ideal place to stay in the Highlands for large or small groups. Experiences include supper clubs and meditation rituals, swimming in the black peat-soaked loch, and gathering by the firepit. To round off the day, the brothers head to a local favorite—a live music night at the The Ewe Bar within the Fortingall Hotel, a listed building with 11 rooms, traditional Scottish interiors and a 2,000-year-old yew tree, which, according to local legend, is the oldest tree in the U.K. But will they see the northern lights? CARTA: The Recent History of Piercing Practices in Europe and North America
Across continents, material evidence of body piercing jewelry abounds in the archeological record. However, the varying procedures and processes of piercing, healing, and stretching these wounds for adornment remains unfamiliar to most archeologists. This talk discusses the early self-experimentations that led to the development of the Euro-American body piercing industry. From the late 19th throughout the 20th centuries shared personal correspondence, illustrations, and photographs document the adaptations, innovations, successes, and failures that came to coalesce a current community’s collective knowledge. Understanding the processes of these secretive explorations provides insights into many of the cross-cultural practices of the past for which no clear records remain. Mont Blanc Tunnel: The Engineering Marvel You've Never Heard Of
For centuries, mountain ranges have served as one of the most formidable obstacles for mankind. They are a transportation nightmare for anyone in the business of moving goods or people: you either had to wind your way through them, which was a slow, time consuming, and dangerous process, or else go around them, which could take you hundreds or even thousands of miles out of your way. Modern technology has solved the problem of mountain ranges, however, in the form of road tunnels: rather than go over or around the mountain, you simply blow a hole right through it and build your road there. Road tunnels are a vital piece of transportation infrastructure, saving travelers countless hours and allowing for the passage of heavy commercial traffic which would otherwise have been unable to traverse the mountains. However, we as commuters tend to overlook tunnels, with few people truly appreciating the immense amount of effort and resources needed to carve out these shortcuts through the mountains, such as the Mont Blanc Tunnel. When it opened to traffic in 1965, the Mont Blanc was both the longest and the deepest road tunnel ever built. Stretching over 11.5 kilometers under Europe’s highest mountain, the tunnel has served as a vital link between France and Italy, at one point carrying as much as one third of Italy’s commercial traffic to the rest of the continent. Unfortunately, it also showcased how dangerous tunnels like this can be, when a disaster in 1999 claimed more than three dozen lives. → Subscribe for new videos two times per week. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHKRfxkMTqiiv4pF99qGKIw?sub_confirmation=1 Love content? MOUTH-WATERING Tour of #1 French Food City - LYON 🇫🇷 Escargot, Bouchon & Brasserie!
Lyon is often considered to serve France's heaviest meals either at one of the cities many bouchons or maybe the world famous Les Halles Paul Bocuse. This city is a bucket list destination for any food fanatic. I have been waiting to visit for a very long time and it did not disappoint! The food in Lyon is extremely fatty and filling so when I say "come with an empty stomach" I mean it. We started out at the Disney Land of food in Lyon : Les Halles Paul Bocuse. Named after local legend Chef Paul Bocuse, here you can literally try it all when it comes to Lyonnaise food. After we settle down for a heavy French lunch at Lyon's oldest Bouchon. After burning off some calories around the beautiful old quarter of Lyon we tucked into Brasserie Georges for a white tablecloth dinner of Alsatian food.
